This Holiday season, we hope all of your smiles will be Merry and Bright! That’s why we want to talk about teeth whitening at Blue Ridge Family Dental this month. There are a lot of options out there, both over-the-counter and at the Dentist’s office! How do we know which option is best for our individual needs? Where should our patients begin?
The best place to start is with your regular hygiene appointment! Healthy teeth and gums are essential to preventing staining and discoloration, and can make teeth whitening products and systems more effective. At your appointment, we can help you navigate the best whitening option for you based on specific dental needs, and discuss Opalescence and KöR Whitening – the whitening systems currently available with Blue Ridge Family Dental!
Opalescence
For our patients who have been riding the Teeth Whitening Train for a while and are looking for an effective take home system to use with their whitening trays, or for patients in need a touch up, Opalescence might be the way to go! If you already have whitening trays at home, feel free to call us about purchasing an Opalescence Home System to pick up in office next time you’re in the area, or at your next appointment. Contact our Front Desk at (919) 267-4974 for pricing and pick up information, or if you have more questions about Opalescence!
KöR Whitening
The newest whitening system we are excited to offer our patients is KöR Whitening – a system with different levels of treatment, from custom take home trays to in-office service, that we find remarkably effective. This system really checks all the boxes when it comes to fulfilling concerns that both we, and our patients, have regarding choosing a whitening system. Here are just a few reasons why:
- The KöR Whitening System is Refrigerated – From Start to Finish!
Ok, we know keeping things in the refrigerator might not sound exciting to you – but hear us out! The materials used in whitening gels react with oxygen and heat, making them really effective once they enter your mouth and hit your teeth! While this chemical reaction works wonders for whitening our teeth, it also makes the whitening gels less stable. If they are packaged up, shipped across the country, and stored in your medicine cabinet at room temperature or warmer, the gels a likely to weaken and degrade overtime. KöR Whitening avoids this by packaging and shipping our whitening gels quickly and on ice! Once we receive them, they are popped in the fridge to keep chilling until it’s time to use them. This helps to guarantee KöR Whitening gels are just as effective when you use them as they are at their time of manufacture!
- KöR Whitening Can Help Prevent Sensitivity Issues
One of the first questions patients ask us while discussing whitening options is, “my teeth are sensitive, can I still use this whitening system?” In some cases, we know that a whitening option might feel uncomfortable for our patients with sensitive teeth. We love to recommend KöR Whitening for people who might fall into this category! Our teeth are porous, some more so than others, and when potential irritants flow through a tooth’s porous surface and up to our nerves, it can create a really painful reaction! To prevent this, KöR Whitening utilizes desensitizers that plug these “pores”, or tubules, to prevent inflammation.
- KöR Whitening Knows We Love our Coffee, Tea, Wine, etc.
We aren’t going to pretend you can unwind with a glass of something red immediately after your first whitening treatment or home application, but we are excited about KöR Whitening’s potential to prevent staining in the future. This system has the ability to condition and restore teeth, making them less susceptible to staining over time. It also can allow us to partake in certain beverages that are often the culprit in staining teeth without making at home maintenance ineffective! Cheers to that!
We hope this information provides a good jumping-off point for your dive into the world of Teeth Whitening! We know that whether you choose KöR Whitening or Opalescence as the right system for you, there might be a few more questions you have for us.
